Youth Development & Empowerment

Youth Development & Empowerment is a process where children and young people are inspired and encouraged to take charge of their lives. They do this by addressing their situation and then take action in order to improve their access to resources and transform their consciousness through their beliefs, values, and attitudes.

However, inadequate youth development cum empowerment poses a big threat to national development which the resultants are;

  • High rate of crime,
  • Drug abuse,
  • Cultism,
  • Prostitution,
  • Conflicts, etcu2026.

It must be noted that the work force of every nation is largely dependent on the youth and they act as catalyst for pragmatic governance.

For a nation to develop both socially and economically there must be active youth and peaceful atmosphere within the society.

Ethnic virus has been one of the most important causes of social crisis and political instability in Nigeria. According to a research conducted by Amb. Francis Origa, Ph.D, JP, Ethnicity has been perceived in general as a major obstacle to the overall politic-economic development of the country which has adversely affected the youth development in Nigeria thereby leaving untapped the workforce of the youth.

In our effort to develop and empower the youth, AEF NIGERIA strive to create youth ambassadors who will:

  • enshrine peace in their daily lives,
  • have positive sense of self,
  • have self-control,
  • have decision-making skills,
  • have the knowledge and skills to deliver humanitarian services through volunteerism,
  • have a moral system of belief, and
  • pro-social connectedness.

These we will achieve through various efficient Capacity building programmes that act as catalyst to the realization of their dreams hence contributing to national development. Community capacity building can not be overlooked, considering their impact on social, behavioral change and infrastructural development of Nigeria. Capacity building tends to address the range of skills and competencies needed by youth to be more productive. This is why in our leadership structure, we co-opted the best brains in youth development affairs.
